'Sealed their fate': New memo shows Dems giddy over looming elections

I'll be honest, I don't read giddiness in that memo. It's just a strategy memo that outlines how they're going to go after Republican House seats this fall.

There are two purposes to this: First, I'd say it would be political malpractice if they DIDN'T go all in on the House Republicans' Big Billionaire Bill. Trump will not be on the ballot next year. The memo isn't wrong in stating that many of the things Republicans voted for in the bill are very unpopular. Democrats should be hammering them for it in House districts all over the country. Republicans will probably lose seats in close districts because of the bill.

Second, the bill still has to pass the Senate. By putting out this memo, Democrats are sending a message to GOP Senators to see if they will think twice about putting their names on this piece of crap. Sure, wavering Republicans will likely cave and pass this anyway -- we all know that's likely to happen, and I'm sure the DCCC knows it too -- but you never know. We all thought they were going to repeal the ACA until John McCain fucked it up for them. So I don't see any harm in making them squirm and letting the GOP see their political futures. Next fall they're going to have to defend all the terrible things that the bill does. I have no problem with GOP Senators considering this vote with that thought in the back of their minds.
