I think not only is shitbird serious about taking over Greenland, it's more likely than not he will succeed. He will tell Denmark that if they don't agree to the 'deal' he's offering to buy it, the USA will simply send troops to take it, and nobody's going to jack shit about it. Johnson, Thune, Hegseth, the post-purge Generals will go along with it. In the end, no one will take up arms against the USA, no shots will be fired. Either Denmark will sell it the USA at gunpoint, or abandon it when Trump send a couple aircraft carriers and 10K+ troops to take it over and plant the US flag in the capital. And Putin will cackle with glee when it happens.
