People in the USSR boasted of reading the most of any other nation. Not only did they read books purchased at bookstores, but they also risked their freedom by reading, publishing and distributing prohibited literature.

What unites the novels Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak, and The Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solzhenitsyn? Today, they are among the most important books of the 20th century, with millions of copies sold, as well as studied by students in universities on five continents. Soviet readers, however, first saw these classic novels not on shelves in bookstores, but as handmade, 'underground' carbon copies that readers clandestinely passed along to each other. Thanks to samizdat (which literally means "self-published&quot did works by Pasternak and Solzhenitsyn – and many other novels, poems and songs – gain wide popularity in the Soviet Union.

This post is my train of thought about how to fight back without going through the sewage of controlled GOP garbage platforms, media outlets. etc.

Maybe we print and share and copy our own literature about Fascist America 2024, 2025. Pin to bulletin boards cartoons that humiliate Musk, Trump, Zuckerberg, Bezos.

Leave copies of articles about the felon's crimes inside library books, books at Target, etc.

Create stickers that say "I did that!" with Trump's ugly mug on them. Put them next to cartons of eggs, gas pumps.

What with the sewage bots on Twitter, Facebook I know that the truth is not being told or lived much anymore.

The major media is all owned by billionaires who want to oppress us, disrespect American workers, and thinkers.

DJT said out loud, twice, during a Jan. 19, 2025 rally that the election was rigged for him in 2024. They absolutely stole the office that the convicted felon and insurrectionist is not qualified to hold.

Grab the sound of DJT saying his bros stole the 2024 election. Play it on student radio. Places where the traditional media won't be.

Isn't Pennsylvania the place where the nazi party passed a law that said mail in ballots cannot be counted until all the in-person votes are done. It took 5 days or so to count all the votes for Joe Biden in Pennsylvania. When Joe won, people in France rung church bells.

I want to be able to come back here with more thoughts. I picked up Samizdat while reading The Power of the Powerless by Vaclav Havel et. al. That book is quite the read.

I also want to choose WHO I listen to. WHO I read. At a granular level, such as watching specific nobody's on TikTok who are telling what's really going on in their neighborhoods. Speaking truth. Advice about mental health and how to gray rock narcissists and sociopaths on YouTube. Podcasts of women about women's human rights.

Where's the good stuff that is being banned. I want the banned books + books like Vaclav Havel et al that showed how to get out of shitty situations that deny human rights and freedom.
