That's another new term for a weather event.
Our weather in Alabama most often comes from northwest or southwest, moves west to east. These things that slide down the Appalachians and come in from the northeast have been most often called "backdoor cold fronts" in old school weather terminology.
This thing last week clocked 100 mph winds south of Montgomery, knocked out power for 1,000's - overnight, too. Knocked out my landline phone service.
The energy - the heavy rain, the lightning, the wind - is becoming noticeably more powerful year after year. That is what was projected to happen as greenhouse gases stored more and more energy in the atmosphere.
I reckon they base their notion of global warming and it's consequences on observable phenomenon we frequently call evidence?
