(29,414 posts)There will always be the dicks that love to mock, because it gives them a little bit of enjoyment, for all of a few minutes. If they knew the feeling of creating joy in others, how it lasts far more than a few minutes, they might never mock another for the rest of their lives. But, I don't know psychology well enough to understand such minds.
Thankfully, there are a few out there who understand us vegetarians enough to be able to hold a conversation without automatically assuming we're being sanctimonious or stereotypical. Some of them even know how to make us joyful, such as one of my favorite chefs, Jamie Oliver. He's started including vegetarian and even vegan recipes on his sites and YouTube channel. I suspect it's mostly because he loves food, of any form.
Plus, everyone can eat vegetarian/vegan, unless they have specific food allergies (which restricts their diet whether they are also veg*n or not.) ("veg*n" is a nice shorthand 'word' for both terms, just so you know
