In his current job, he is a taking head, a commentator, host etc. What he isn't, at least now, is a journalist. As to promoting his book, that seems to be the norm for talking heads, whether MSNBC, CNN, or FOX.

However, the content of that book, at least from comments I've read, should disqualify him from claiming he is not a biased partisan. Like him, I am not a neurologist or doctor of any kind. I have heard the recent speech and some comments from Biden. Just as in the press conference after the disastrous debate, he was engaged, understood complex questions and gave nuanced answers.

My view is the debate was the aberration. Either not taking medication or the medication itself coupled with the chaos and bullying that is Trump resulted in what we saw. I think he was also over prepared by his team to make certain points. In retrospect, I wonder if they should have given him a prepared crisp, but commanding put down for the predictable Trump non answer/attack which he could use to shut down an early Trump answer followed by a calm normal response to the question.

Between the press conference about a week later and the earlier state of the union, it was clear he was coherent, had a very good memory and he could think on his feet. Trump might seem more energetic, but he shows nowhere near the understanding of complex issues and often seems incoherent.

With Biden, while not showing mental problems, I suspect many in Democratic circles and the media, were unhappy he did not step down sometime after the midterm
