4. they required me to fill out a login.gov form - it didn't work

I've been using the SSA.GOV login with email and 2FA (text). they told me I couldn't do it any more and required me to get a login.gov account.

tried and got an error that I couldn't establish that account. Not sure where I am now. Beware!
