They are a business. I looked at their main domain. It is pretty clear that they are first and foremost a marketing company. That's where the money is.

"The journalists remain mostly independent of the business arm." How often have we heard that reassuring pablum?

I reject that "spectrum" nonsense, by the way. It is yet another way to create a "both sides" false equivalency view of US politics. "Left of center" lololol. What does that even mean, given that the "center" is fascism.

Granted, McClatchy's operation is representative of the state of so-called journalism today, and they are probably no worse than many and better than some.

Still, they are representative of the state of journalism today. That's not good.
