6. Prognostications: Elysium As Well As Idiocracy

Yesterday

In Elysium the wealthy live on a paradisical space station orbiting the earth, while the uncouth teeming hoards live in nasty, brutish squalor on the surface. That’s the blueprint for our overlords, or something like it. I don’t know if the Elysium scenario is more likely than Idiocracy (or Terminator, for that matter). Our future looks dystopian, at present. I have started re-reading Victor Frankl’s concentration camp testament, Man’s Search For Meaning (German title seems apropos: In Spite Of It All, Say Yes To Life). Highly recommended. We can keep going and live according to our values even when circumstances are dire.
