(10,526 posts)The first time, there wasn't a safe testing method for it so my doctor recommended against testing.
I came back with it from travelling.
I had ordered N95 masks in Jan '20 when I first heard about it - from two different places fearing an order would get stolen. Both orders never made it.
But early on, I got N95 masks. I have worn them in public ever since.
I've never missed a vaccination.
We socially distanced. etc.
My doctor and I came up with an anti covid cocktail - much of what they gave Trump when he got it.
In spite of all that, I've had it 5 times.
I have immediate family in retail.
Got it once from my dentists office.
2024 was long Covid. After a month of it in Jan, it morphed into a 12 week pneumonia and then into some sort of chromic gout-like arthritic attack (I don't drink, etc). Blood tests did not clear up until Sept.
Put on a bunch of weight from being idle so long. I still have 10 lbs to lose.
I think what Trump (& Reps like DeSantis) did about it was horrific - they killed a lot of people.
I think Dr. Fauci and others like him were heroic and wonderful - they saved lives.
A dear friend's wife nearly died from it last week. Paxlovid appears to have helped save her.
My daughter's family of four may be fighting it now. They seem to be coming through it ok. Everyone's test kits have expired and new ones haven't been easy to find.
