44. There's a difference between your faith and the male dominated hierarchy's rules

The faith hasn’t changed much but the rules set by the leaders have over the years. The move towards the Opus Dei craziness is the problem. I was raised Catholic and my mother was damn near a saint. Even she saw the problems with the male dominated rules and lived her faith but also thought for herself and always voted Democrat because it was closest to what she thought was right. She was uncomfortable with abortion but knew it wasn’t her place to decide for others either.

You can’t ignore the Church’s interference in politics and while I agree it’s not all Catholics who follow blindly, it does apply to too many. You are offended by peoples reaction to those Catholics who indeed have the cult mindset. The fact their leader can influence how one votes and lives proves that.
