(13,095 posts)My concern is that he is running against Richert, who eventually caught the Green River serial killer. Richert is a Trump loving Republican. He was a legislator who went to Washington and voted with Trump every time. We don't need him as Governor. But because of his work with the serial killer as a police officer, he is popular.

If there is ever a political figure who is purely the figment our local media's imagination, it is the silver-haired sheriff, Rep. Dave Reichert, a man whose entire political career is built upon the fiction that he single-handedly brought to justice Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer.
But as Michael Hood explains in blunt detail in a re-post of his excellent series on the subject that first ran in 2006 on HA and BlatherWatch, Reichert's oft repeated tale is total bullshit

(5,582 posts)He *sometimes* voted the way the people really wanted just to 'hold the seat', when his vote would not make a difference in what was being passed or defeated. Then he was 'allowed' to vote to keep his constituents happy, even if it was against the party line.

"Sometimes the leadership comes to me and says, Dave, we want you to vote a certain way. Now, they know I can do that over here, that I have to do that over here. In other districts, thats not a problem, but here I have to be able to be very flexible in where I place my votes. Because the big picture here is, keep this seat, keep the majority, keep the country moving forward with Republican ideals
. Not the vote I place on ANWAR that you may not agree with, or the vote that I place on protecting salmon.
(Yeah, it happens from both sides, but here he is saying the quiet part out loud.)
