Judge drops ruling as DOJ violates Epstein files release - Brian Tyler Cohen

A federal court judge, Judge Engelmayer, has issued an order directing the Department of Justice (DOJ) to respond to allegations that they are violating federal law by not complying with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The law requires the DOJ to release all Epstein files by December 19th and to provide a report to Congress on the files they choose to retain and redact.

Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie had written a letter to Judge Engelmayer requesting that a special master be appointed to oversee the release of the files. While the judge has given the DOJ until Friday to respond, he also raised questions about whether the members of Congress have standing to demand the release of the files. Glenn Kirschner believes that the judge may be signaling that he has concerns about the validity of the lawsuit. However, Kirschner also thinks that the victims of Epstein's crimes may have standing to intervene in the case, which could lead to the release of the files.
