Stephen Colbert - Monologue 1/7/2026

Rubio: U.S. Wants To Buy Greenland | Stealing Venezuela's Oil | Dr. Oz: Booze Brings People Together

The Secretary of State says America's goal is not to invade Greenland but to purchase it from Denmark, Trump said he will sell 50 million barrels of Venezuela's oil and that he will determine where the profits go, and the FDA removed its own guidance on how much alcohol is safe to drink on a daily basis.

Note: For those who are wondering why there's no Opening tonight, actually Stephen Colbert gave an announcement where the Opening would usually be saying that given the tragedy that occurred in Minneapolis earlier today (including a few words by Governor Walz) they felt it was inappropriate to start the show with the usually humorous segment. I can recall that happening before, but apparently the new regime at CBS decided not to include Colbert's announcement in the YouTube clips.

And he did it so well this time, too - but new management apparently decided against showing it.
