(1,143 posts)2. According to a 2020 report in Jerusalem Post "scores" of condoms were used as balloons to carry IEDs by Hamas
to transport them over Israel. (Warning: Link below is to Foxnews)

Secretary of State Marco Rubio's decision to freeze foreign aid over the weekend included pulling millions of dollars-worth of U.S. funding for "condoms in Gaza," a White House official told Fox News Digital.
. . . .
In her first-ever briefing Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the OMB found "that there was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza."
The Jerusalem Post reported in 2020 that scores of condoms were being used to create IED-carrying balloons that winds would carry into southern Israel, raising alarm on schoolyards, farmlands and highways.
At the time, the Post reported that the improvised explosive devices floated into Israel via inflated contraceptives burned thousands of hectares of land and caused "millions of shekels of damage." It's not clear if the practice continues.

I will agree $50 million to supply Gaza with condoms sounds like a lot of money. We should not be supplying Hamas with dual use items that could be used as weapons against Israel. Somehow I don't believe that was how this $50 million was being used. It might have been for some kind of humanitarian purpose in Gaza.
Regardless, "scores" of these condom balloons were used in 2020. A score is 20. Five scores would be 100 and they would report it as "hundreds". They aren't even saying that Hamas is still using them.
Perhaps it is some insidious plan to stop the population growth of Gaza. I imagine a country gets $50 million worth of condoms and they say to themselves, "What are we going to do with all these condoms? I guess we better get busy. No time to fight. Male love not war."
