'An attack on American people': Fmr. WA Gov. Jay Inslee on the politicization of disaster relief - Velshi - MSNBC

Throughout his first term, Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to withhold federal disaster aid from Democrat-led states and cities. In some cases - like in response to Washington’s devastating wildfires in 2020 - Trump actually did deny aid, forcing the state to wait 5 months, until Biden took office, to receive help.

Now as the historic wildfires continue to rage in Los Angeles, members of Republican leadership continue to suggest that federal aid for the most destructive wildfires in U.S. history should be conditional - with “strings attached”. “This is an attack on American people who made a voting decision that Donald Trump doesn't like,” said Former Washington Governor Jay Inslee. “They deserve to be treated like Americans.” - Aired on 01/18/2025.

portion of each state that they are withholding help from, consists of republicans too. Jesus.

tRUMP was told this fact too, and I think he realizes this, that a chunk of states being impacted do have a sizable group of republicans.

What in the hell are these thugs thinking? That a tornado or other weather-related disaster is going to stop, inquiry about who lives in a particular area, and then targets those that aren't liked by the tornado, other disasters occurring.

Then Republicans would be fully on board with strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
