And he said that his mother had five children so he was thinking of his own family - and how heartbreaking this horrible tragedy is for a six-year old.

11. It just occurred to me that some angry, grieving husband, boyfriend,

or other relative might someday physically attack a Justice or RW politician after their wife, girlfriend, daughter, sister needlessly dies from a refusal of medical care.

I don't advocate vengeance killing, but how long before something like that happens? I remember watching a TV news clip several years ago of a father in Buffalo being restrained by friends when police arrested his neighbor for raping his young daughter. The father had lunged at the perpetrator, vowing to kill him.

Of the many bodies stacking up in the "killed by Republican policies" column, assigning blame for these deaths could be far easier than COVID misinformation, toxic environmental impacts, and cutting food aid and medical care.

Surely it was life threatening long before they acted, so that taking action would have been justified even under draconian laws.

I believe that is what JD Vance said, in effect, when asked about this yesterday afternoon (I don't have the clip handy though).

And that's the problem - as with less well-documented cases in Texas, when they go to court, the rethugs point to the doctors for the fault. But the doctors and hospitals hold that the laws are so vague that their impact is to terrorize the providers in the situation. A very popular Republic tactic, also used around LGBTQ issues in schools and libraries, and elsewhere -- but with less devastating consequences.

I also have not heard the RW self-serving defenses that blame medical personnel.

There is no question that the misogynistic laws are to blame for the fear of acting that doctors face.

But, in other cases of women being denied treatment until their condition was clearly life threatening, medical personnel have given delayed treatment in time to save the women's lives. So my question is why did that hospital delay treatment until it was impossible to save her life? Is it because she is Black? Is it because the complications developed as a result of an abortion?

I understand that doctors don't want to give up their years of expensive education and training, plus years of freedom if incarcerated, but is there a doctor anywhere willing to risk that in the name of saving a human life? The prosecution of such a case would be national and international news. It might clearly highlight the injustice of expecting a doctor to not save a life in a timely manner.

No law that forbids a doctor from saving someone's life can be constitutional.
