Democratic Primaries

This is just despicable. I'll vote for Bernie if he's the nom, but that's all I will do. Nothing else. This is despicable. That none of his supporters here will even address this just shows you how many of them are probably the ones on Twitter going on about this and are afraid of getting banned.

Come on, Bernie supporters here how can you still support this candidate when two of his top three paid surrogates have pushed this obvious lie!?
I do not for a single second think that either Briahna, Nina, or, frankly, any Bernie supporter pushing this lie actually believes it. The story is just so filled whole wholes. Comparing this to Kavanaugh was ridiculous, and, frankly, much as I hated him, I thought even that was on shaky ground. When does this stop becoming about protecting women and start becoming about settling scores?
Does anyone remember the story of the Salem Witch Trials? Look how many had to die and/or be imprisoned because of how many believed those women. Not everyone is telling the truth.

(116,608 posts)that Biden should hire some of Bernie's campaign staff for his general election campaign since they are savvy with social media. I really hope that discussion was an April Fool's Day joke. I don't think Joe needs to go to that particular well.

Fortunately most of his followers have realized that continuing to support him helps Trump and the Republicans keep power.

(1,729 posts)His press secretary is pushing this vile crap. She's basically the mouth of Sauron.
I am so beyond enraged about this and I see that yet another post addressing this Reade issue is ignored by the Bernie supporters here. For shame!
Frankly, I partly blame Alyssa Milano and #MeToo for this. They had to know on some level that they were creating a McCarythite-style situation where even innocence is not a defense. What should have been a way to help victims of abuse and assault has become just another way to take out one's political and economic enemies.
Read Paul Boyer and Stephen Nissenbaum's Salem Possessed. It'd dry as hell but it explains the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 in terms of these social conflicts. It wasn't rye bread that made those girls lie. The allegedly afflicted Abigail Williams herself said, "We do it for sport." The people in power took advantage of what these girls probably saw as their one chance at a meaningful life in a Puritan society where Children barely had any childhood at all.
When someone says, "why would so and so lie about ______," well, look to the trials. When every other motive is offf the table, good-old-fashioned attention is always on the menu and some just don't care how negative that attention is because they're martyrs to their own fantasies.
And the people that these crazy liars and those who seek to exploit them hurt the most are actual victims of sexual assault. And that is, perhaps, the most egregious facet of this.

But I have cost myself thousands of Trumpy customers for my four retail shops, two festivals, publishing company, tour company, and every other pie I have my fingers in by constantly bashing Trump and promoting Democrats to my tens of thousands of fans. That stops if he's the nom. ALL Bernie Sanders will get is my vote. NOTHING else. Obviously I will not be here during the general because I won't be able to find it in myself to cheer him on. I'll simply pull a lever and that's it.

(35,454 posts)In 2017 Alexandra Tara Reade Praised Joe Biden for Helping End Sexual Assault.
In 2017 Alexandra Tara Reade praised Joe Biden for his action in helping stop sexual assault, not just once, but on multiple occasions.
Also in March of 2017, Reade made a tweet claiming that Joe Biden speaks truth, and encouraged her followers to listen to him.

(35,454 posts)"In an article Reade wrote in 2009, she claimed to have left Washington DC for the midwest because her husband Tate, at the time, had received a job offer for a Congressman. She claims to have also received a job offer to work for a Governors race in California around the same time period.
However, in the article Bring on the Light, which Reade wrote in December of 2018, and has since deleted, she stated that she left politics and Washington DC because she was sick of American imperialism and because she love[d] Russia with all her heart.
Also in an article she wrote on April 6, 2019, Reade claimed that she didnt even know if Biden knows why she left working for him:
I wish I could say there was a happy ending, that Senator Biden apologized or that he helped make amends, he did not. I do not even know if he realized why I left.
But then in March of 2020, Reade says that Biden fired her:

(2,657 posts)people are not allowed to decide for themselves who to believe and who not to believe. To Ms. Gray, if you do not believe Tara Reade's shaky story, you must be just the same as the Republicans who claimed not to believe Christine Blasey Ford. Here's the problem with that. Every Biden supporter that I know that doubts Ms. Reade supported Ms. Ford.
Apparently, in Ms. Gray's world, people, both men and women, must believe every sexual assault assertion ever made by any woman. In her world, no one is allowed to decide on a case by case basis. Our entire system of law is based on deciding things on a case by case basis. Ms. Gray's position is absurd.

(1,729 posts)and even then, I don't think it should have stopped Kavanaugh, much as I loathe the man. It should have *paused* thinks so they could investigate properly. I may be a rarity in this world but I believe that innocence must matter, even in those I despise. And I also believe that the moment a person has to lie for their cause, they no longer have one. See Team Tara for an example.

(2,324 posts)When Bernie finally drops out, this won't go away. Trump will surely use this against him on the campaign trail. People who don't follow politics closely are starting to think that Joe's sexual assault allegations are equal to Trumps and we all know that isn't true. If he does make a statement and people don't believe him he would at least get a few more people to believe him

(1,729 posts)I mean, seriously. Biden's got some women that think he sniffed them a little too closely. Trump's got 17 accusors of sexual assault and actual statements about grabbing women by the pussy and having the privilege of walking into the Miss Universe dressing room while the girls were all naked.
Biden already did speak up about it and said it was false. Next!

(2,324 posts)personally made a statement on this. Well, Trump is very good at downplaying and misdirection. I see him running ads on tv and radio twenty four seven. People who never bothered to look into this will be listening these ads on their car radio on election day and it could have some effect on their choices.

(3,308 posts)People of good conscience can disagree on political positions and policies in a respectful way. That's not what's going on here. Bernie is apparently entirely comfortable with scorched earth if it gets him what he wants. If he destroys a good man's chance at the Presidency, so be it. I was no fan of Bernie to start with, but these days I find him disgusting and repulsive. Anyone still supporting him is, for all intents and purposes, enabling him in this bullshit, and they should be ashamed.
