Call for Unity Senator Sanders!

Rally your supporters to the cause, please, Sir. You know that your quest is futile at this point, and that we are desperately in need of steady, capable leadership. So, please behave as a leader and support the candidate who will be the Democratic nominee.

You pledged to do so when you joined the race. It is time to redeem that pledge, Senator Sanders. We are in a state of emergency at this point. Please do not exacerbate the problem by delaying the inevitable. The Democratic Party needs your support now!

Thank you.

I really don't think anyone should ask Bernie to endorse or campaign for Joe. In 2016, it only made Bernie supporters more angry and rabid. I think it will be much more peaceful if he is left alone to go home and write a book.

4. I disagree. Senator Sanders made a pledge of support when

he became a candidate for the Democratic nomination. He signed on to that pledge. Now, he must redeem it. If he does not, then he pledged falsely. Surely he is an honorable person, and honorable persons hold firm to their pledges.

I call on him to honor his pledge.

I doubt his word is worth anything. Particularly if keeping it might be to the detriment his life-long dream of 'revolution'.

"From Bernie’s perspective, dropping out of a race once you have no chance of winning is peculiar behavior that can only be explained by the work of a hidden hand. For most politicians, though, it is actually standard operating procedure. Only Sanders seems to think the normal thing to do once voters have made clear they don’t want to nominate you is to continue campaigning anyway."

"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."

A principled man would do the right thing in such emergent circumstances. We will observe the truth shortly. By redeeming his pledge, Senator Sanders could redeem his reputation at the same time. I continue to hope that he does so, as have the other candidates for the Democratic nomination. All but Sanders have honored the pledge they made by following through with their promise.

But I see no reason to expect him to do so. I would never do business with him, and certainly not in the trade I plied in my 'adventurous youth'....

5. I do not believe he knows how. I have seen no evidence that he possesses those leadership skills.

He's very good at reading a laundry list of problems (that gets everyone fist-pumping angry) but so far, I've seen no real-world solutions coming from him, nor have I seen any indication of a willingness to find common ground and make the necessary compromises so that some progress can be made, rather than being stubborn and literally maintaining the status-quo when zero progress is made.

10. Yes. It is very easy to identify problems that require solutions.
Fri Mar 27, 2020, 12:07 PM

It is more difficult to lead others by offering realistic solutions for those problems. Senator Sanders made a speech to an empty audience recently, a speech calling for something that had already been accomplished. He made his speech after others had led the effort to accomplish that which he later called for.

True leadership is a difficult skill. Few people are masters of it. Senator Sanders is not one of them, I am afraid. If he were, he would have a far longer list of accomplishments as a Senator.

...forevermore stand as an object lesson to all of us, and particularly the DNC. Never Again!

We should have learned after the first time, but this is (or should be) the limit. You want to run as a Democrat? Show some fealty to the Party and its core principles. Register as a Dem, go public with it, be proud of it. We are not perfect, but we have a history to be proud of -- not to be continually sneered at.

I better stop, hadn't I?
