Former Vice President Biden's campaigning is reaching out to voters as their lives are likely being turned upside down by the coronavirus outbreak. Biden, who is working out of his Delaware home these days, took part in a virtual press conference and a virtual happy hour. Additionally, Biden rolled out the inaugural edition of a newsletter, in which he announced an upcoming podcast.
Biden is trying to present a more personalized view of himself as many voters deal with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. The former vice president's newsletter engages readers with a question and answer section, as well as his own reading list. The newsletter also includes a section titled "Note from the Doc," which features medical advice from a member of his public health advisory board.
The former vice president, who has been giving interviews and statements on the coronavirus pandemic, hosted a more lighthearted event on Wednesday evening in the form of a happy hour.
The strategy is an attempt for the Biden campaign to counterprogram Trump, who has the benefit of delivering daily press conferences from the White House on the coronavirus outbreak alongside noted experts like Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx. Biden has praised the experts, like Fauci, in recent days, but has criticized Trump's response to the crisis.

(5,969 posts)Seriously, the primaries are all but decided unless you think BS can win all the remaining primaries with 20% margins. The presidential race is something completely different. To insinuate Biden doesn't want to debate Trump because he sees no further purpose for what feels like the 15th Dem debate is extremely disingenuous.

That's how many times Joe didn't duck Bernie. Sanders must not be a big boxing fan because based on the last one he should take a quote from Roberto Duran and be yelling "no mas!".

that they have had 11 debates total so your implying that Biden is afraid to face Bernie in yet another debate struck me as a little disingenuous. Probably at least 9 of those were with both men on the same stage at the same time and they have had ample opportunity to make their positions clear by now...the same number that Hillary & Bernie had back in 2016, BTW. Joe's had enough and most of America has had enough. If this many debates has not changed public opinion (and has actually swung it the opposite way in Joe's favor instead) I think I'd quit digging by now. But that's just me.
Anyway, it's not up to Joe and it ain't up to Bernie...if Perez and the DNC want to bore the shit outta everybody once again they'll fill in the TBD of this mercifully last one and Biden will be there yet again, and hopefully it will finally be the end of it. Based on the ratings people are losing interest fast with viewership going from ~30-35 million for the previous two all the way down to around 11 million when it was finally head-to-head.

(2,760 posts)All others were with multiples of various sorts, giving no one any amount of time to speak. One more true debate would be extremely useful during the current crisis. Senator Sanders sole interest is in getting the pertinent issues discussed for all to hear. With so many in lockdown the viewership could be huge.
