(825 posts)"RoseAnn DeMoro, a close Sanders friend and former nurses union head, said Sanders should not approach the race as a done deal and ought to treat a come-from-behind victory in future contests as a possibility given the volatility of the times. 'I think therell be openings that we dont know' about, said DeMoro, warning that it would be foolish to concede to Biden."
I read that as a suggestion to stay in the race in case Biden dies from COVID 19.

(2,760 posts)I vote in a state that has yet to hold a primary. Please do not deny me my right to exercise my vote. I have been a faithful voter for over fifty years and since I'm not dead yet, I want to retain my right to vote for my chosen candidate. There are still a lot of us out there.

(67,782 posts)...the primaries, Joe Biden has gotten more than 10 million votes, Sanders 7.6 million. Excuse me for my pragmatism, but MILLIONS of more voters chose Biden. The DNC had nothing to do with it!

(1,076 posts)In several states where I've lived, we held our primaries so late that the nomination was locked up by the time we got to vote. I didn't cry about it like a spoiled baby and insist that time and resources be wasted on a loser. I pulled up my big kid pants and went to vote, anyway, even though I knew who the nominee was.
That's because not everything is about a sore loser candidate or his sore loser supporters. There are other, even more important things to still vote for in a primary, like the candidates for Congress rep, Senator, state legislators, county officials, city council and more. They matter too, you know.
So you're not losing your vote in the least.
No, you want to pretend that your candidate didn't get his ass handed to him in short order, but that if you whine enough, you'll get the candidate you want. And it doesn't work that way.
Your savior lost. Get over it and go vote for the downticket people who still remain to be decided. Or don't. It wouldn't surprise me if you berners took your toys and went home for the rest of the election season, to show us a thing or two. Little do you comprehend that all you'd do is confirm that many of us were right that the Democrats were better off not counting on berner votes. Far better to secure the party's base of women and minorities, and try to peel off as many of those suburban soccer moms as we can.
Because they, you know, are reliable voters. Unlike berners.

(2,760 posts)I have never, throughout the course of my life, been a sore loser. I have fought for justice and equality all my life, whether it be for women, minorities, the poor, you name it. I'm sorry you find me so dispicable. I wish I could tell you I won't be around for many more election cycles, but since the women in my family for the most part live well into their nineties, I can't promise that. I've never been a whiner and I've been a reliable voter all my life.

(70,995 posts)don't always get to vote while their preferred candidate is in the race. In this case, Sanders is likely on the ballot and it is also likely that there will be no more primaries...so a big who cares...your most important vote will be to vote for Joe Biden in the General. That is the only vote that matters at this point.

(96,043 posts)A party primary is not a 'right', it is a rule in a private, nongovernmental body, which the state assists.
It is your right, and the right of everyone else, to vote in a general election, but the primary is only how a party chooses its candidates, and it could use other ways. By now, the proverbial smoke-filled rooms of hard-eyed professionals look pretty good to me.
The situation is analogous to when an election is called early in the evening, with, say, twenty percent of the vote counted, but one candidate in a solid lead, and persons knowledgeable about the state, with some polling data to hand, conclude that lead will hold. The votes not yet counted at that time are still counted, but have no effect on the outcome. There is no need to sit up with bated breath to see just how every ballot was marked. Instances where these calls do not prove out are rare as hen's teeth.
"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."

(840 posts)The states that vote early essentially decide the issue.
Iowa, New Hampshire and Super Tuesday. Actually, this problem is the reason Super Tuesday is a thing.

(825 posts)This nurse is a friend of BS but may or may not have his ear. I just thought what she said was interesting in light of the current outbreak of COVID 19. In fact, I would be surprised if many others were not thinking the same thing. I said nothing about BS dropping out of the race or disenfranchising you or anyone else. But lets face reality, BS has less than one percent chance to win the nomination according to 538.com and BS is running 18 to 20 percentage points behind Biden in popularity polling. BS can and I am sure will stay in the race. But, if he does not. it does not mean you have been disenfranchised...it just gives you an opportunity to support a different candidate than the one you wanted.

(8,147 posts)wishing for Bidens death and accusing him of having dementia. And Bernie continues with the digs as Nina Turner continues her rubbish.
They will knock Biden even if Bernie bows out, but not as a part of his campaign. Let them then
either become Trumpsters as threatened or get in a write-ins corner.
And Bernie could nicely join us in stumping for Biden who is the better qualified and experienced.
