BOTH JOE BIDEN AND BERNIE SANDERS WOULD BEAT DONALD TRUMP IN A GENERAL ELECTION, NEW POLL SHOWS

According to a new poll, Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders would beat President Donald Trump in the general election.

The poll, which was conducted The Economist and YouGov, surveyed 1,500 U.S. adults from March 15 to March 17, and has a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points.

For the poll, the surveyed adults were asked who they would vote for if the Democratic nominee was Biden and the Republican nominee was Trump. About 48 percent of U.S. adults said they would vote for Biden, while 41 percent said they would vote for Trump. Meanwhile, 4 percent answered with "other," 5 percent said "not sure," and 2 percent said they would not vote.

In a nearly identical question, the poll asked the 1,500 adults who they would vote for if Sanders was the Democratic nominee against Trump. The results were similar as well, with 48 percent saying they would vote for Sanders and 41 percent saying they would vote for Trump. Additionally, 3 percent answered with "other," 6 percent said, "not sure" and the remaining 2 percent said they wouldn't vote.

If we want to know where a general election stands, we need state-by state data. And even then, we have no idea what kind of voter suppression these Repukes will come up with vis-a-vis coronavirus protections.

For a long time, even when we had many candidates, Biden and Trump have been winning polling against Trump, with Biden doing best and Sanders doing second best, including when looking at the key swing states.

However a few other unexpected states have been polling well for Biden such a OH, AZ and NC. I suspect there will be many more ups and downs before Nov. No guarantees but Biden does appear to have the upper hand at the moment.

Is Senator Warren. I wish both Biden and Bernie would for the good of this country tell her to return to the primary then they announce they are going to drop out so she can save us and be the next president. Her knowledge is far and above both Biden and Bernie, and she would fix this, and knows how to get the answers. We're sliding into a trump depression soon if they refuse to payout enough directly to the American people, and nothing I see is stopping them from doing just that, all caused by trump,, like the position now we're in is from trumps lack of leadership. Or appoint her as the corona virus czar with powers to fix this mess before t gets much worse. The GOP need her expertise ASAP now.

6. I haven't shared the concern that beating Trump will be hard, even before coronavirus bungling

Trump won due to a narrow margin in rust belt states. Manufacturing didn't come back. Coal didn't come back. His idiotic statements and mismanagement of the coronavirus will doom him. Add in the x% of anti-Hillary voters from '16, and x% independents throwing their middle finger hoping he would stir things up for the positive... I just don't think a good portion of those voters will support him again. Some lifeline conservatives might not vote Biden, but enough will be unable to pull the lever for him again that I truly think it's a foregone conclusion that Biden will win.

As someone who is center-left, I have some (okay, very slight) sympathy with far-left and super-progressive supporters, as I think even Bernie would beat Trump. This might have been their only chance.

Agree fully with almost everything except the very end...LOL. Thankfully, we won't have to find out which one of us is right on that Bernie beating Trump part. Never underestimate the ability for a large portion of the American electorate to take total leave of their senses whenever they grab a voting machine lever.

between the end of the DNC convention and Election Day.

I don't care what these national polls say (and as some have already pointed out national polls don't mean shit, it's individual swing states that matter) if you give the GOP Smear Machine and Republican Attack Dogs almost 4 full months to pummel Bernie and rip him to shreds there won't be anything left to bury...not even old dried up bones.

Thankfully it's a moot point and an academic discussion. We got our boy Biden for better or worse. Obviously there are no guarantees he will win, but the way it looks at the moment I'm sure liking his chances a helluva lot.
