'Who is going to advise him to drop out?': Bernie may not be ready for quick exit

Many of the Vermont senator’s aides and allies expect him to press onward — regardless of Tuesday’s election results.

By HOLLY OTTERBEIN and DAVID SIDERS 03/17/2020 04:30 AM EDT

Bernie Sanders’ path to the Democratic nomination is closing, but a quick exit is far from guaranteed — even if he gets wiped out Tuesday.

From his debate posture to staffing moves to the “virtual rally” he convened Monday evening, the Vermont senator is signaling that he may not be ready to concede.

If Sanders remains in the race, it will be in part to keep his “political revolution” alive. According to people familiar with his thinking, Sanders will not only consider what’s best for his campaign, but also the progressive movement.

Many of Sanders’ aides and allies also expect him to press onward after Tuesday. They see a benefit in amassing as many delegates as possible in order to influence the party platform at the Democratic National Convention this summer — even if Sanders himself can’t win the nomination.

“I think there’s a very good chance that he will stay in,” said Larry Cohen, chair of Our Revolution, a group founded by Sanders in 2016. “The number of delegates you have, the number of people on the platform committee is absolutely critical.”

His policies are nothing more than unreasonable ridiculous ranting with no chance of ever succeeding. They will have the same track record of his miserable record in effective legislation. Anyone can propose utopian nonsense, but it takes a reasoned legislator to pass real legislation. He might have not have noticed that he isn't living in a Communistic state where dictators can impose their will on the masses without regard to their rights or desirers. We have seen how that has worked out in Russia and China. In democracies the key is compromise to protect everyone's interest and wellbeing.

complete with spontaneously-combusting campaign staff (my money is on Brihanna), since they are about as disposable as drummers; Sirota trying to get through airport security with a cucumber in his pants, the young voting bloc as shrunken as the Stonehenge set, and finally playing their last gig at an amusement park.

the media didn’t cover him after it becomes inevitable. They didn’t really cover the other candidates who lost a path to the nomination while they were still in the race.

Without rallies or television or newspaper coverage, the “revolution” will expire on its own. It was always an illusion anyway.

but then Bernie, his campaign, and his supporters would start accusing the mainstream media of being in the tank for Biden and the DNC. "See, the system is rigged!" Whenever things don't go his way, Bernie plays the victim, not exactly a gracious loser.

Bernie wants to increase the sympathy level of his supporters who will turn into book buyers. Millions in profit are riding on his staying in.

Plus, all the surplus money his campaign will have will be used to primary Democratic incumbents as Bernie's parting gift.

it would be better to act like an adult, be responsible and work within the team. Losing in every state, while burning bridges is going to get him locked out of the platform entirely, while the platform will explicitly appeal to the progressives by including Warren's plans.
