Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumJust saw first glimpse of debate stage. They're standing.
Two podiums. What caused that? Fear of contact? Those stupid rumors about Joe?

(15,815 posts)on Twitter saying that the debate was sit down because Joe didnt have the ability to stand that long. It was offensive bullshit.

(15,684 posts)What is wrong with people? Given Sanders is the only one of the two who just recently had a heart attack you'd think his supporters could come up with something at least believable.

(43,206 posts)Itll be interesting to see if they each stay at the podiums. With no audience Id assume they will.

(15,703 posts)I'd read that it would be seated but if he has to stay on his feet two hours he has only himself to blame.

Mr.Bill
(24,774 posts)that Biden wanted to be sitting down, the implication being he is too weak to stand for a few hours. Something he's done at every debate so far, by the way.
I think Bernie comes across better sitting in a quiet room. His hunched over posture, excited voice and arm waving are going to be bad optics in a quiet room.
I hope they both do well and are decent to each other.

(42,862 posts)It hurts worse to sit than to stand? Watch for leaning and poor posture... that's a clue too.

I thought that was the original plan, then someone asked for seated at a table, then both camps denied ever requesting that.

Like it's BFD to sit down.

(1,583 posts)But I'm still unsure why candidates sitting makes it any less of a debate.
No one has given me a satisfactory answer why this was a big deal.

(8,742 posts)This is ableism, the idea that a president has to be able to stand for so many hours--or stand at all--to be fit for office.
I'd rather have FDR in a wheelchair as president than a RWNJ marathon runner any day of the week.
