I thought the network people got to ask questions, not the candidates.

Who's moderating? Do we know? They'd better have a whip and a chair.

I hope their questions are focused on addressing Trump policies, not getting the two candidates to attack each other, as they usually do.
(Fat chance.)

Of course, to Sanders it won't matter anyway, because whatever he is asked, the answer always turns back to the billionaires and the establishment and the same yada yada. But two can play at that game. No matter what is asked, or what is said, Biden should just use the opportunity to turn the conversation back to Trump and the Republicans.

11. Make a tv ad, put it out in advance - day before debate. Inoculate him.

Pre-emptive strike always knocks Bernie off balance, hence the freak out when Pete & Amy dropped out before Super Tuesday.

(BTW Bloomberg churned out tv ads faster than you could blink, sometimes the day after trumpy's nonsense, maybe his ad team can help).

Bernie is trying to present these issues as things Joe has no answer for.

But for example healthcare:
Joe, like many of us, would like M4A but like many of us, is concerned about how difficult it would to pass and pay for. So Joe advocates for a public option and other things to improve Obamacare that are viable politically and financially.

It's not the $35 trillion answer Bernie likes but it is an answer that 1.5 million more voters for Biden than Bernie so far have accepted.

Joe could go through the list. He has answered these things.

If I'm Joe, I'm probably having a discussion as to whether to bother to debate him.
