I'm seeing some comments on Twitter showing an interesting, more positive take on Sanders' speech,

different from my initial reaction.

Here are 3 examples, the first from MSNC's Matthew Miller:

Is Sanders signaling a campaign whose remaining goal is not to win but to pressure the eventual nominee to support his platform?

From David Corn:

.@berniesanders is giving @JoeBiden questions in advance of the Sunday debate so Biden knows what he has to address to get Bernie and his voters on his side. This is a very smart and mature statement. Good for him!

And from the Hoarse Whisperer, whose tweets I often find interesting:

Bernie Sanders is delivering a speech that translates into “I have lost this race but will continue through next week to push Joe Biden on policy.”

That’s an odd one but isn’t all that bad.

Could actually lead to something of a public conciliation in Sunday’s debate.

Note: the Hoarse Whisperer still heard a lot he didn't like in Sanders' speech, but thought it was the least objectionable speech he'd ever heard from him during this campaign, as explained in the thread starting here:

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

My deep respect of Bernie (voted for him), is going to be highly dependent on how he responds after he loses next week. If he stays in, and continues to fight, I will be forced to concede that the worst criticism against him may be justified.

Who is the losing party to give the winning party a chance?

In addition, the more "progressive" platform is not winning: witness not only Sanders but Warren. As James Clyburn said: "People don't want free stuff. They want accessibility and affordability."

Not this time, no how. The loser doesn't get to determine the platform. Finders keepers, losers weepers.
