Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumHow many of you are feeling much more hopeful than you have in a long time?
What a different landscape than two weeks ago. I am actually starting to get excited about Biden rather than just picking him because I think he is most likely to beat he-who-shall-not-be-named.

(9,238 posts)Ive been in a state of sadness and depression since Nov 2016. But now feeling cautiously optimistic for the first time since then.. thanks to Joe!

It finally feels like things have shifted for the better. I feel like we turned a corner and the cloud over us is lifting.
This is the most optimistic that I've felt in over three years.

(14,565 posts)That reference point matters. That reference point impacts preference in November.
Otherwise I'm not kidding myself that anything fundamental has changed in the past 2 weeks. Happy Adjusters always play that game of overreacting to recency, and therefore making absurd projections.
We avoided a socialist and inevitable defeat plus downballot disaster. I am immensely relieved about that.
We also got a jolt of reality toward preference in relation to turnout. I was pleased to play a role in laughing at the turnout clan around here. I've wagered on this stuff successfully for 28 years yet I'm supposed to surrender to a simpleton like Rachel Bitecofer and her new reality. Let me know when that happens. I'll be beyond senile. My friends in Las Vegas would be considerably more harsh toward her than I have been.

(36,641 posts)in his response to the virus and the market is in meltdown. This afternoon I was listening to MSNBC on the radio. I don't know what show it was but someone said if Trump would just shut up and quit tweeting for two weeks his poll numbers would probably go up 10%.

(9,559 posts)I think our party has a widely-popular candidate who can successfully campaign on memes of comity and normalcy. After nearly 3 1/2 years of Trump, this means a lot.
FORWARD TOGETHER!

(1,053 posts)Those voters and most of the voters since have given me renewed hope in our Democratic process and in the inherent intelligence of our Democratic party members. I think these results bode very well for the general election. I am even more encouraged by the increased turnout we have seen. On to November!

(36 posts)I never felt that Biden was down and out. I always knew that he would have better showings in more diverse states and besides, those polls showing Bernie ascending never smelled right to me. I also feel that Sanders did fatal damage to his campaign when, 2 weeks ago, he complimented Castro and his education policies. Even if it's true, no one with any sense of political instincts would say that out loud at this point in a primary!

(84,207 posts)I certainly am, Amaryllis. Im going around the house trying to put my finger on it. Definitely a feeling Im not used to.
Watching impeachment come to fruition was different. Gratifying, but different. This, tonight, was not like that.
But whatever the heck it is - DAYUM what an IMPROVEMENT!!! Hopeful is a good word for it.

But then it all started to change, and it felt that we were all coming together to support joe.
So many people across the country are going to rise up together to vote trump out of office.

(2,913 posts)If you are talking about the election, maybe, but it could go either way since we don't really know what will happen with this virus. I'm very worried about the future and that information is being withheld from us. I work with the elderly. I don't know what their lives are going to look like, or as a professional who cares for them, what mine and my family's life is going to look like. I am in a higher risk group so there is a lot to think about. And how will this virus affect the election turn out? So much overwhelm.
