Unreal. And people say Bernie's supporters are rude.

This isn't even a random online twitter person, it's an actual surrogate who was on MSNBC! Stuff like this really shows how hypocritical the media is for pushing the "Bernie Bro" narrative while putting hateful people like this on the air.

Sun Mar 1, 2020, 01:42 PM
Mar 2020

Normally going to a national convention is a once in a life time experience. I have worked really hard inside the party on campaigns and voter protection issues for a very long time to earn this trip. Too bad that sanders and his vetted delegates ruined that experience and did their best to help trump. A candidate has absolute approval rights over their pledged delegates because these delegates can change their votes and these delegates represent the candidate and campaign. I helped vet Clinton delegates and I know that I was vetted. The Clinton campaign told us that we represent her and that our actions would reflect on her and her campaign.

In contrast, sanders sent one very weak text the Sunday night before the convention and then did little or nothing to control his delegates. It was nasty I was there when the sanders delegates booed Congressman John Lewis. I was warned about this stunt 30 minutes before it happened by the Clinton campaign whip. According to my whip, sanders was asked to stop this event and declined. That incident will be used against sanders by Russia to suppress the African American vote just as was done in 2016

Russia will just run material showing sanders delegates booing John Lewis, Elijah Cummings and others to suppress the vote of African American voters and I feel that this tactic would be very effective

I was at the Texas delegation breakfast when a group of sanders delegates marched in and demanded that we condemn Clinton and change our votes to sanders.

sanders spoke to the Texas delegation the next morning and his speech was again solely about himself. There was a mini-riot due to his delegates the prior morning and the only thing that sanders talked about was himself. sanders did nothing to deal with the fact that his delegates were out of control and did nothing to try to help Hillary Clinton win the general election.

Finally a group of sanders delegates yelled at my daughter and called her the c-Word because she would not try to get me to change my vote. Again sanders was asked to tell his delegates to behave during the convention and sanders refused

No, what's shocking is the hypersensitivity coming from the Sanders campaign. If they think that campaigning is rough and unfair... then they're definitely not prepared for what would come from the GOP. The winner will be tough as nails and resilient. The winner will not be delicate and pouty and complaining about the media and "vitriol" from the public.

Sanders in October (when he said Joe Biden should release his records!)

"I think when you're running for President of the United States the American people have a right to know the condition of your health. I think that is a standard that should be applicable to all candidates."

Bernie Sanders says he won't release full medical records

Speaking during CNN's town hall in Las Vegas, Sanders was asked to clarify whether his presidential campaign would be releasing full medical records, which he previously stated he would do. Sanders will take part in the Democractic candidate debate Wedneday night.

Last October he said, "The people do have a right to know about the health of a senator, somebody who's running for president of the United States -- full disclosure."

108. It is Biden who needs to provide extended medical reports
Sun Mar 1, 2020, 11:22 PM

Biden has released a three-page letter from a doctor. That's all, that's it, nothing more:

Three page letter: https://go.joebiden.com/page/-/CiU2iAa4Ig_ j5EQzueoad.pdf

Bernie released three pages of physician letters, as documented by DanTex.

Your issue seems to be that Bernie needs to provide more medical reports because of his heart attack when he has already provided at least as much as Biden.

Bernie proves every day that he is in good health with the relentless pace he keeps. He speaks at rallies with thousands and thousands of people--recently over 13,000 in Washington. The pace at which Bernie campaigns puts any other candidate to shame. If (and this is a big if) they could get the numbers of people to show up like Bernie does, it's doubtful they could match his pace.

Here are Biden's campaign events:
https://go.joebiden.com/page/-/CiU2iAa4Ig_ j5EQzueoad.pdf

Here are Bernie's:
https://www.facebook.com/pg/berniesanders/events/

There's no comparison. Biden's leisurely campaign events cannot equal Bernie's strenuous schedule. You want an extended report testifying to Bernie's physical health? Bernie proves his health and stamina every single day of this campaign.

Biden's medical report is incomplete and I want to see a complete cognitive workup by a neuropsychologist and a psychiatrist. The man literally does not even know where he's at: there was the embarrassing incident last summer when he thought he was in Vermont and he was in New Hampshire. Here's what he said:

He was in Keene, NH: "I love this place. Look, what’s not to like about Vermont in terms of the beauty of it? And what a neat town...everybody has been really friendly. I like Keene a lot."

Even worse, the previous week he mixed up Burlington, VT and Burlington, IA.

The list of Biden's mental confusion and brain freeze-ups could go on for pages. I want to see medical reports clarifying just what his problem is.

So to summarize:

--Bernie and Biden have released the same amount in terms of a medical report
--Bernie proves every day that he has good health and stamina by executing an intensive campaign schedule while Biden ambles to an event here and there, usually with a fraction of the people that Bernie deals with.
--Biden shows us on a regular basis that there is something wrong with his cognitive abilities. It is, therefore, Biden who needs to show supplemental medical reports.

because Biden originally promised a more extensive release of medical records. Google it and you will find several stories that say this.

So it is Biden who is the hypocrite here as he failed to live up to his promise. I think you're using this as a distraction from Biden's failure to come across. It's a common enough tactic these days. Accuse someone else of what you yourself have done.

In any event, even if that were not the case, there are so many mental failings that I do not see how Biden could ever win against Trump. These instances are on-the-air failures and they will be powerful fodder for republicans to cast doubt on Biden being able to lead the country.

What you're attempting is exactly that, using Whataboutism. You can google that and find several websites that explain this.

In any event, even if that were not the case, there are so many mental failings that I do not see how Biden could ever win against Trump.

And the implantation of two stents in a blocked artery," last October.

Bernie Sanders walks back promise to release 'comprehensive' medical records

The 78-year-old Democratic presidential hopeful said in September that he would “absolutely” release his medical records ahead of the presidential primary season, which kicked off with the Iowa caucuses last week.

“The American people have the right to know whether the person they’re going to be voting for for president is healthy,” Sanders said at the time.“And we will certainly release our medical records ... before the first votes are cast.”

“I want to make it comprehensive,” Sanders said in explaining the delay. “The answer is I will, probably by the end of the year.”

Bernie Sanders backtracks on 'full disclosure' pledge on his medical records

In October, however, Sanders told CNN’s Sanjay Gupta that he would be releasing his medical records related to the heart attack and the implantation of two stents in a blocked artery.

“The people do have a right to know about the health of a senator, somebody who’s running for president of the United States — full disclosure,” Sanders said, pledging to release his full medical records. “But you know, the first concern that people had [was] to understand what was going on. Before we reveal information dribble by dribble.”

In a separate interview with ABC News, Sanders again pledged to release his full medical records “as soon as we can.”

You're not convincing anyone that those are medical records, let alone "comprehensive ones" like he stated all politicians need to produce for "full disclosure."

The White House hopeful addressed his health Thursday in Iowa ahead of his first appearance in an early voting state since suffering a heart attack earlier in the month. The 78-year-old Vermont senator has repeatedly promised to release his health records at some point, but he outlined a likely timeline in an interview with The Associated Press.

“I want to make it comprehensive,” Sanders said in explaining the delay. “The answer is I will, probably by the end of the year.”

87. 'Standard' for a politician who promised comprehensive "medical records" by Jan 1?
Sun Mar 1, 2020, 07:37 PM
Mar 2020

You'd think he'd be eager to show evidence that he's as healthy as he claims - if only to show up everyone else by releasing his comprehensive medical records. It sounds like something turned up in those records that would make "full disclosure" bad for the campaign. Hence the full reverse, and the testiness with the media when they hold him to his word.

Especially since he was calling for Biden to release his medical records....

Sanders committed to disclosing his full medical records in September. The next month he had a heart attack.

In an October interview with Gupta after his heart attack, Sanders indicated again that he would release his medical records, saying: "The people do have a right to know about the health of a senator, somebody who's running for president of the United States -- full disclosure."

Asked what the standard should be for presidential candidates when it comes to releasing such information, Sanders replied, “I think when you’re running for President of the United States the American people have a right to know the condition of your health. I think that is a standard that should be applicable to all candidates.”

In October, however, Sanders told CNN’s Sanjay Gupta that he would be releasing his medical records related to the heart attack and the implantation of two stents in a blocked artery.

The people do have a right to know about the health of a senator, somebody who’s running for president of the United States — full disclosure,” Sanders said, pledging to release his full medical records.

So, Dan, what part of that is "bashing?" The part that points out where he said one thing, then did another, and makes it embarrassing for you to keep saying he "doesn't change" and he never says one thing then does another?

That sounds a lot like my Trump supporting relatives talking about the "media bashing Trump" when they reported that he said were airports in the Revolutionary War.

Get out of the rules he doesn't abide by... and Win on his own...surely you must have enough support to win alone instead of pulling down Democrats that can beat the orange asswagon.

Everyone agrees we should follow the rules. The question is how are the delegates are going to carry out those rules.

They could respect the Democratic will of the voters and unite behind the candidate with the most pledged delegates. Or they could not do that and fracture the party, effectively handing Trump a second term.

14. Bernie supporters are ver rude
Sun Mar 1, 2020, 02:23 PM
Mar 2020

Yesterday Bernie supported openly booed Joe Biden twice when Bernie mentioned his name, and Bernie did not admonish them.

Best line of the campaign season was when Senator Klobuchar was booed at a multi candidate event and she said "Good to have Sanders supporters here" to uproarious laughter and applause.

They boo because they self identify as aggrieved victims more than as Democrats and feel entitled to boo other Democrats. That is why when they lose the nomination where there guy had all the advantages and a 4 year start they will be rude, aggrieved and embittered.

You are aware that logically you have done nothing to counter the "Sanders supporters are Rude premise" right?

A = B. (A = Sanders supporters) (B = Rude)

C = B ( C = Some random guy)

Just because C = B it doesn't make A = B any less rude.

Sanders supporters are consistently the rudest supporters and that is because Sanders us the mist embittered leader in a generation and they take their clue from their leader whose favourite word is "unfair". If you are angry and embittered then you feel entitled to consider yourself above the rest of the party and boo everyone not in your cult.

Yesterday Bernie mentioned Biden's name twice and the crowd loudly booed both times. Bernie said nothing.

When other candidates have congratulated Sanders there has been restrained polite applause.

Naming one guy no one has never heard of does not negate a consistent practice that went on last campaign with Bernie bros and is still going on right in front of Sanders in a campaign event.

Of course when you are not a Democrat and you openly brag about attacking the leadership of the party, as Sanders has repeatedly done and repeated in his ABC interview just today you are gunning your followers to be angry at Democratic leaders and that's why Sanders did not chastise his supporters 4 years ago and won't do it this time.

Your citation of Matthews is just more of the practiced victimhood of Sanderism.

Matthews isn't a candidate or a supporter and one gives a shit what is making CM leg tingle or his frequent misguided efforts to find historical ties in past world events

Apples to pineapples

What people are talking about is not a talking head here or there but [b. the actions of thousands at an official campaign event. In the case yesterday interrupting the candidate twice with loud booes when he mentioned Biden.

The point that you have consistently missed is it really isn't any particular supporter or even a group of supporters that is relevant, as there are some jerks in every group, it's the candidate's response that is the point.

Sanders, over the years does nothing to admonish his rude supporters, yesterday he had 2 opportunities and did nothingw/b]

He wants the boos because he wants to demonstrate that he intends to completely remake the Democratic Party in his image. That is why he wanted to primary President Obama.

I understand that Sanders is only a temporary visitor to the Democratic Party but someone should explain to him that openly booing a fellow Democrat, a lifelong party leader at that, is considered rude.

The people doing the "documenting" are none other than the Chris Matthewses and Joy Reids, people who smear Bernie all day long. It's not the least bit surprising that they would push the myth that Bernie supporters are somehow ruder than supporters of other candidates.

And part of it is exactly what you did: whenever someone smears Bernie, anyone who brings it up is dismissed with the "victimhood" talking point. That's how anti-Bernie people manage to actually believe the "Bernie Bro" myth in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They simply ignore all the vicious and false smears against Bernie, even things like comparing Bernie's campaign to the Nazi army, as "victimhood".

Needless to say, nobody outside of the circle of Bernie-haters believes any of it.

Mon Mar 2, 2020, 03:18 PM
Mar 2020

At least on the wilder parts of social media (not here on DU) there is a much larger number of extremely hostile and undiplomatic Sander supporters. A lot of "If I don't get my way with everything, then I am going to watch it all burn, and you not agreeing with me on everything makes you an awful horrible person" There is far more "my candidate or bust" sentiments than you get with any other candidate's supporters. I just read a thread in which someone said he will only vote for Bernie in the general, and that had lots of likes and people commenting in agreement. You might see that on a smaller scale with other candidates, but that often leads to people trying to sway the person to take a different stance.

Also. there are far more cruel (although mostly harmless) memes from Sander's supporters against Biden, Warren, Buttiegeig, and to some extent Klobuchar than there are against Bernie coming from other democratic supporters (conservative attacks don't count) Not to mention the crazy stuff we see like that one local bernie campaign guy who defended Stalin's gulags and promoted re-education camps in the US and said cities will burn if Sanders didn't win. I thought that was too ridiculous to be real, but sadly it seems like it was. And weird stuff like that pops up every so often. If it was just one then it's like whatever, but there always seems to be something.

There are also Bernie surrogates like David Sirota spreading misinformation and twisting the truth in the most dishonest ways possible. Take the story from him about beto o'rourke in which he implied Beto was getting large amounts of funding from big oil special interest groups, but if you dug a little you would see they were all individual donations from people who just happened to work at a company in the oil/gas industry...But he's from Texas in which the oil and gas industry employs a large percentage of the population. Not to mention the stuff he did in 2016 in which on election day he was writing hit pieces on Clinton.

Anyway, the point is that to me it seems like there is a lot more vitriol and "us vs them" coming from a lot of Sander's supporters when compared to other candidates.

148. Women are rejecting Sanders
Thu Mar 12, 2020, 06:14 PM
Mar 2020

sanders is losing primaries due to lack of support from women voters. It appears that in part women voters reject the conduct of Bernie bros

For all the talk about Sen. Bernie Sanders’s diverse coalition and progressive outlook (and all the questions about the “likability” of female candidates), it should not escape notice that the biggest group of Democratic voters — women — overwhelmingly rejected the Vermont independent.

In Michigan, women made up 54 percent of the electorate; former vice president Joe Biden won 58 percent among these voters, compared to 35 percent for Sanders. In Missouri, women also accounted for 54 percent of the electorate; they chose Biden 64 to 32 percent. In Mississippi, 58 percent of the electorate was female; women chose Biden 83 to 12 percent.

Go back to Super Tuesday. Biden’s median support among women was 12 points higher than Sanders’s (37 to 25 percent) but only four points higher among men. In all Super Tuesday state exit polls, women made up more than 50 percent of the electorate — reaching roughly 60 percent in some cases (e.g. 58 percent in Minnesota, 61 percent in Alabama, 59 percent in Maine). That reflects the huge gender gap between the two parties that has only widened during the Trump era.....

Women’s aversion to Sanders may also be a rejection of the Bernie Bros phenomenon — the obnoxious harassment and even threats directed at women (including journalists and union leaders, as was the case in Nevada). Plenty of women did not think it was the least bit improbable that Sanders told Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) he did not think a woman could win. The only other candidate whose campaign ethos is so infused with testosterone is Trump.

The degree to which Sanders has turned off women is a fundamental problem for the left, which contrary to its self-conception is largely white and male. It is hard to present oneself as the vanguard of a diverse party when your coalition on race and gender (but not age) looks like a Republican coalition. Moreover, it is impossible to win as a Democrat without the support and enthusiasm of women.
