and use 1:4... but lots of info out there for edibles

this site suggests 1:1 (volume)

...1 ounce to one pound butter:

a ratio of half an ounce of cannabis for every pound of butter works well

I'm still waiting for the initial customer rush to slow down (legal recreational sales just started, in Michigan, on Sunday) but my plan is to concentrate on making my own edibles.

I would highly recommend it. Used one for about 5 years and love it. I use coconut oil. I made a tincture but Everclear and heat are not fun to work with. Thought it was going to explode butter is where it’s at.

Also found instructions for making a tincture so I'm saving my CBD bottles. I see some 'trial and error' in my future, but I'm sure I'll find a good mix for both the tincture and the infusions.

A technical nit, I agree.

But what you are doing is driving off a carboxyl group and changing thc-a to thc. thc-a isn't psychotropic; burning it when you smoke it or cooking it converts it for you, but if you use it to create an extract, it won't be converted..

But beware, if you overcook it, you will create thc-n from the thc. Nothing wrong with that, but thc-n will make you very sleepy and also isn't psychotropic.

Not that I would know anything about it. Just sayin.

then I spray with ever clear, let sit for 15 min, and then put in a crock pot with butter for about 5 hrs on low. Strain thru cheesecloth and squeeze. I've made it with coconut oil same way but you don't have to crock pot it as long.

r/treedibles is the sub. LOTS of ideas! Have you heard of the slow cooker method? It seems pretty popular.

But I don’t really care for the strong taste. I prefer a quick wash with everclear.
The way I do it, it’s really safe. I freeze the decarbed bud or trim. Then pour everclear from the freezer into it, swirl about 30 seconds, then filter it into the top of a double boiler. The mixture will be the color of pee. A light straw color. Do not use near a flame. I have a electric cooktop with a glass top and I ventilate the heck out of the room. It only takes a few minutes to reduce the alcohol by half. I then take the pan off the heat and let it all sit until the alcohol is gone.
