Marijuana legalization in Colorado, Washington running smoothly

Washington state has now undergone its first year of legalizing marijuana for recreational use, which can officially be declared a success.

In just one year, the state has sold $250 million worth of recreational cannabis, generating roughly $70 million in tax revenue, according to the Associated Press.

That total nearly doubles the state’s initial prediction of $36 million, as the state’s 160 legal pot shops are known to clear up to $1.4 million per day.

Meanwhile in Colorado, although they boast a much larger sample size of legalization, the state’s drug czar Andrew Freedman believes that his state’s recreational marijuana program is also running well.
