Related: About this forumIndiana’s ‘Religious Freedom’ law is already hilariously backfiring. Meet the Church of Cannabis.
(cross-posting from GD)
If youre someone who pays attention to things, its not hard to figure out that Indianas Religious Freedom law, also known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, is just a sneaky way Christian folks oppress gay people. But now that the legislation is in effect, its having some amusing unintended consequences.
This Tuesday, Indiana was forced to recognize the First Church of Cannabis, and you dont have to guess what their favorite religious ritual is.
From The Daily Dot:
The First Church of Cannabis is a relatively new denomination, set to hold its first services on July 1, the first day the religious-freedom law goes into effect, according to Forbes. And by obtaining recognition from the state under the new law, church members (who call themselves cannataerians) will reportedly be allowed to light up during their church services, even though they will practice in a state where marijuana is still a highly illegal substance. Its all thanks to Indianas recently reinforced religious freedoms.

(15,882 posts)1. As they proselytize from other religions (that's what religions do, after all) I wonder if there
will be correlations between religions and types, or maybe strains.
Catholics doing Indicas, atheists doing Sativas, Southern Baptists doing $10 ounce weed from Mexico...(if they ever discover mmj they will think they've been born again again).
I wonder what the people of the future are going to laugh at when they look back at how we screw ourselves up with prohibitions.

And arrest/search all that enter and leave. That would be my worry.
