*VOTE OVER* Today US House to vote on protecting medical marijuana states from fed interference

*See outcome in 2nd post today: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12791392 *

Drug Policy Alliance

In just a few hours the U.S. House will vote on whether to protect state marijuana laws from federal interference. Send a message to your representatives to vote YES now!

With your help last year we won the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment protecting medical marijuana states, but that amendment expires this year. We need to win this vote and protect all state marijuana laws going forward.

This vote comes in the wake of a huge victory last night, when an amendment to stop the DEA's controversial spying program was approved by a simple voice vote on the House floor.

There was no opposition. Not a single member of Congress was willing to argue that spying on virtually all Americans in the name of the war on drugs is acceptable.

The tide is turning against the DEA, and against the war on drugs as a whole. And now we have a chance to score another important victory and protect all state marijuana laws - including both medical marijuana and broader marijuana legalization.

Send a message now.

And then take the next step and call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 1-202-224-3121

Since marijuana should bever have been listed as a Schedule I drug in the first place, it is far past time for the federal government to back off states' attempts to correct this 45-year-old mistake.
