Playoff implications will follow resurgent Pistons over latter half of season

Cleveland — Coach J.B. Bickerstaff knew going into Saturday’s game that the Detroit Pistons were in for a tough match.

After losing five straight games and seven of their last eight, the Orlando Magic were desperate for a win. They were urgently trying to end their losing woes, but the game also had playoff implications that could lead to significant seeding come mid-April.

However, the Pistons were not fazed. They entered Orlando as one of the best road teams in the league, with a 7-1 record since Dec. 21. But by the time the final buzzer sounded at Kia Center, the Pistons had dropped their second road game, a 121-113 loss.

"I thought coming in here, understanding what was going on with Orlando, them getting bodies back, having lost a few in a row, we knew they were going to come out and compete at a high level," Bickerstaff said. "Give them credit. They made shots where they had been struggling."
