She asked this on our face-time today. She was pretty alert but looked tired. She probably wanted to sleep (which is what she does most often).
Hit me hard. She beat Covid, but has been declining since. She doesn't eat much of anything because she has difficulty swallowing, even the nutrient shakes. She's very weak.
It just really hurt to hear her ask the question.

(5,747 posts)I was my mom's caregiver when she had cancer and those questions are really hard.
Know that she loves you and she appreciates all you do.

(15,673 posts)She had been struggling for a while to stay around for my Dad. A month after Dad passed, my sister and I told her that it was OK to go. Broke our hearts at the time. But the next morning, on Easter, she left us. So now, every Easter, I can think of her and how much she loved jelly beans!
I'm thinking of you at this difficult time Miss Millie.

(33,339 posts)About two weeks before my dad passed we talked about why he wouldn't go to sleep.
Told me he was afraid he wouldn't wake up.
I told him - he did a good job and had an awesome life - we will be okay. It will suck - but we will be okay. He started sleeping that night.
It sucks Miss Millie. It just sucks.
