HALLWAY BINGO! (I love this idea so much!)
The memory care facility where my sister lives has the entire building (and campus) in lockdown. No visitors. No day-trips (other than medical) and no social group activities (movie night, card games, sing alongs at the piano).
But... someone had the brilliant idea of having "runners" and a loudspeaker to have "Hallway Bingo"... where residents are able to sit in chairs or wheelchairs or their Rollator seats and REMAIN AT THEIR FRONT DOOR of their apartments.
The caller is in a central location and will announce the letter/number combination over a karaoke speaker... and other "runners" will walk to make sure everyone heard the call.
Apparently it's much slower, and the aides get a good workout in the process.... but it definitely helps the residents who dislike being confined in their rooms as much as anyone else would.
Anyway... this makes me happy, and I thought I'd share it with you all. I'm very glad to see the staff making an effort to keep the residents entertained and "connected" while also making sure that they stay separate and safe.
