Is there a phone volunteer service...

to chat with dementia patients in the US? I see the UK has something called Companion Calls which is perfect but haven’t found anything in the US.

My mom has dementia and LIVES on the phone. She must tell the same 5 stories 200 times a day. It is becoming a huge problem in that most of us have to get work done and can’t stay on the phone for an hour every time we speak each day.

I was wondering if there might be a phone buddy volunteer option. (just thought of the term “phone buddy “as I typed this and will go Google that next.)

Thx!

There are a lot of seniors in my Episcopal church and there is a team of volunteers who check up on those who are home bound. With an ageing congregation, that's a lot of phone calls!
