Appalachia
Related: About this forumNeed some help checking out this website
I wanted to explore the website of the Appalachian Media Institute at http://www.appalshop.org/ami/ but keep getting hung up when I try the various links, such as those to the video/photo collections. Can some folks here check this out? Is it just me? I hesitate to recommend a site that's so glitchy.
Thanks for any help.

(19,144 posts)How long are you giving it when you hit Media Gallery, Video? The Media Gallery, photo didn't load (or I didn't wait long enough)

(19,964 posts)Same with the photo gallery. I think they definitely need some help with their website.

The audio clip that works is worth a listen, and the pics are good, too!

(19,964 posts)Some of these non-profit groups that rely on donations simply don't have the funds for better websites. Hopefully they'll find some volunteers who can help them.

(19,964 posts)I guess I could add it to the thread for "Resources" with a disclaimer that it may be difficult to load and not all of the material is available.

(1,754 posts)If I got to the videos from the main part of the page they seemed to play ok but sometimes it would freeze up if I tried to go to one of the categories on the navigation bar.
I've heard good things about Appalshop although I don't really know that much about them. AMI is just one part of Appalshop project - the main site is just www.appalshop.org and it seems to work a lot better.

(19,964 posts)I'll give it a try from the main site and see if that works any better for me.

(6,604 posts)my hardware is seriously out of date. Had better luck loading videos on my phone than on my XP, but even then the vids were buffering every few seconds.
I agree with the poster(s) who said the website could use some work though.
Next time at the library I definitely plan to check out some of those vids.
