Marysville Middle School kids have heads shaved to raise money for cancer research

MARYSVILLE — There was a lot of hair on the floor of the Marysville Middle School gym Friday after 34 people had their heads shaved to raise money for cancer research.

More than $6,600 was raised for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation between the school’s penny war competition and head-shaving pledges.

“We’ve got great kids here,” said Bill Grant, student council advisor and teacher. “Last year 22 shaved their heads. It’s something they can buy into. Everybody’s been affected by cancer in one way or another.”

Grant was the lone teacher who had his head shaved Friday.
