Anarchy in the U.S. in the warped view of the NRA
When a great President past said there was nothing to fear but fear itself, he hadnt reckoned with the National Rifle Association.
A chilling, propagandistic video the NRA has unleashed on an already inflamed internet whips up fear to the fullest, injecting the murderous force of firearms to the toxic mix.

The NRA cynically employs fear as means to an end. For eight years, it pushed the myth that President Obama was coming for peoples firearms and sure enough saw a surge in gun purchases. To maintain momentum in the Trump era, the NRA adopts the American carnage narrative of the Presidents fear-fueling inaugural address.

After decades of inducing Congress to block even reasonable limits on weaponry, and even as casualties of mass shootings have soared among them two dead and six wounded in a rifle attack at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Friday the NRA decided that an estimated 270 million guns arent enough.

NRA apologists claim that the "Left" has forced the NRA to become the right-wing, lying, homophobic, racist, hate-mongering machine that it has become by threatening to ban ALL firearms. And there you have it: the right-wing racist, bigoted, misogynistic, "guns everywhere" crowd feeds the NRA by buying more guns -- which is just the way the NRA wants it.
This excerpt from the article sums it up nicely:
"The NRA cynically employs fear as means to an end. For eight years, it pushed the myth that President Obama was coming for peoples firearms and sure enough saw a surge in gun purchases. To maintain momentum in the Trump era, the NRA adopts the American carnage narrative of the Presidents fear-fueling inaugural address."
Instilling fear of each other, especially if we are somehow "different" is the key to profits for the NRA, and for their Main Man, the Trumpster. Two distinctly and profoundly un-American entities wrapped up in each other's arms (pun intended).

(38,294 posts)Let's say you're an Nutjob disciple who concludes it's time to start shooting lubruls. But just how many guns can you actually carry?
Whether the NRA likes it or not, market forces seem to be asserting themselves.
By putting themselves in a position of existing for the purpose of ginning up gun sales, they limit themselves. Members are used to gun industry subsidized membership fees and perhaps not willing the shoulder the actual burden of the NRA's cost structure. The NRA has to do the manufacturer's bidding in order to continue.
Ironically, actual gun rights are there to fend off tyranny. Smart gun owners are interested in gun safety and limiting access to guns by crazies and criminals.

(6,641 posts)They're trying to invent a new domestic enemy (instead of that scary black dude) and convince the Trumpster crowd to buy more guns. Same tactic, different marketing demographic.

(27,206 posts)spur gun sales will tell us plenty. Something we should watch.
That said, I'm considering a new firearm since I'm the target in this ad, so it may work after all.

(27,206 posts)who I think are evil. I've owned a couple guns for 30+ years.. they were given to me, locked up and unloaded. But, as crazy as things are getting, I just might buy some bullets and do some target shooting. It just might come to that. who would have ever thought this craziness would turn so ugly.
