Bloombergs gun-control group to endorse Ralph Northam for Virginia governor
Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, the political arm of one of the nations biggest gun control groups, is endorsing Virginia gubernatorial contender Ralph Northam and the rest of the statewide Democratic ticket.
The group, and the Virginia chapter of its affiliated Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, is backing Northam, lieutenant governor contender Justin Fairfax and Attorney General Mark R. Herrings re-election bid.

The action fund is a spinoff of Everytown for Gun Safety, the nations highest profile gun-control group that is largely bankrolled by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The fund poured more than $2 million into Virginia Democratic campaigns in 2015 during the partys unsuccessful bid to regain control of the state Senate.
Gun safety will be one of the defining issue of the Virginia election this year, said Beth Fine, an Arlington volunteer for Moms Demand Action, adding that the endorsed candidates understand that with rights come the responsibility to keep guns out of dangerous hands.

Once again, the gun violence epidemic is being addressed by those organizations and politicians who see the urgent need for sensible gun control measures to protect our streets and communities.

(6,641 posts)program is built on instilling the fear of confiscation into susceptible minds, when no such proposal or plan has ever been put forth by Democrats or anyone else.
Second Amendment absolutists and NRA/ILA apologists continually point to the AWB as "evidence" that "the gubbmint is comin to take away ALL of our guns," when the AWB is no different from the sensible ban on fully-automatic machine guns, or functional grenades. Gun manufacturers feed this fear of confiscation with advertising that implies "buy it now before you can't."
In my estimation, there are many "free people" who have absolutely no business walking around in public with a lethal weapon, just looking for an opportunity to stand their ground.
