Deadly shooting in downtown Austin as bars close

AUSTIN, Texas - A man shot into a crowd in downtown Austin just after the bars closed, killing one woman and wounding at least four others.

The shooter is still on the loose, reports CBS affiliate KEYE-TV in Austin.

The shooting in a crowded entertainment district of the Texas capital early Sunday set off a chaotic scene, leaving one woman who was believed to be in her 20s dead and three others wounded and police searching for a suspect.

Austin Police Chief of Staff Brian Manley says police received reports of gunshots in the area of East 6th Street shortly after 2 a.m. Police arrived to find a chaotic scene and four people shot.

Well, if he was alive you could thank him.

On another note, I suppose that there were no good people with guns to protect the victims. Or they ran the other way.

The "good guys with guns" marketing ploy is exactly that: a sales pitch to sell more guns, some of which will end up involved in the shooting and killing of innocent people.

Contrary to the claims of Second Amendment absolutists and NRA/ILA/GOA apologists, more guns will always equal more gun violence. The Second Amendment was not written, nor until ALEC stand-your-ground laws and Heller was it ever interpreted, as a license for an individual to be the judge, jury, and executioner of another citizen.

an individual right. Hence the "a well regulated militia" that the Scalia backers ignore.
