Social security sent a text saying I have a new message. Can't log in. Suggestions?

Correction: I meant to say Login.gov in my original message
----------------------------------------------------
I haven't had any changes to my life that would would affect SS, so this is a bit concerning to me. I have tried several times to log in using my usual Login.gov login process. They send me a text code to verify, and then reject it.

Is anyone else getting these messages? Are there changes afoot that I need to know?

Thanks.

I'm hoping you are right. I don't trust the phone for any important business.

I definitely feel a generational tech gap when it comes to the interplay between phone and computer for layers of authentication.

3. Never click on ANY text sent to your phone.

As far as why it's rejecting your verification code, I don't have that problem right now. Be careful. If you clicked on a link sent to your phone, it may be a scam. Make sure you are going to ssa.gov by typing in the URL. If you did click on a text link, go change your password just to be save.

4. I received the message via text that there is a new message for me.

I logged into the SSA website using my desktop computer. I never use the phone for stuff like that.

When I logged in, they sent me a verification code via text msg on my phone. I entered that code onto the page on my computer, and it would not log me in.

I am not communicating with them via text - just receiving the login secret code.

Not sure what to do. Frigging DOGE.

I'm not clicking on the phone txt. Just copying the number they texted into the log in page on my desktop computer.

So many people use their phone for everything now. I don't text, except in a case like yours where they send me the 2-factor authentication text.

6. got similar notice (at least as far as timing)

Annual Advance Designation of Representative Payee

just an annual 'notice' and nothing to concern - unless of course you were interested in making changes.
(and even there, something to be done separately?, and at later time?)

Can't help with the login - sorry. (although will note that the site offers 'alternative' methods of verification. I have not tried them, so .... ) Again - sorry

9. Thanks for this! I am going to assume it's the same and ignore unless they contact me some other way.

But it does concern me how hard it has become to interact with SS.

F*ck DOGE.

Switch to a computer and login with a fresh browser. The link in the text could be bogus.

I do all my business on the computer. But they usually require authentication via text message. That is the case here. Thanks for your response.

Via the pdf link so I had to request a mailed letter. The site is kind of slow and clunky now.
