From a Facebook friend's status update

This happened in NYC. I don't know this young woman super well, but I do know that she is very well-liked and loved by many.

Today I was walking my dog from the subway to rehearsal in the middle of the afternoon.

Today I was followed from 34th and 8th Ave to 34th and 10th Ave by two young men who were screaming at me. They repeatedly called me a cunt and stated that they were going to rape me in front of my dog.

Today I was stripped of my humanity by two strangers.

Today I was afraid to be a woman.

This shit really fucking bothers me. Disturbing, horrifying, and infuriating on so many levels. Ugh.

hissing at women and catcalling them in the street, and they think one step further is no big deal.

This is nothing new. In fact, I had a similar experience (though I have no dog, and it was one man) twenty years ago in pretty much the same place.

I don't know what gets into some men that they think women are put here just to be their toy or punching bag or target for their anger/inadequacies.

FWIW, I believe there is a misogyny backlash happening--pushback to all the strong feminists efforts. We are called "SJW's" like that's a bad thing. All the "lighten ups" all the minimizing, all the complacency expressed by progressives of any gender, all the "PC has gone too far bullshit" we have such a long way to go.

The woman in question was probably too terrified to capture some audio/video of those men making the threat, otherwise I would think the police would be interested in this assault.

She probably committed the crime of not responding to some lame catcalling.
