Law Professor: Catcalling video "designed to score cheap points on social media"

Writing on USA Today, Professor Glenn Harland Reynolds said:

Likewise, in today's multicultural society, notions of appropriate interaction between the sexes can't be confined to the narrow spectrum found acceptable by mostly white upper-middle-class academic feminists. That said, perhaps we can find a way to encourage politeness without shaming or threats of punishment. It would be nice if we could. But a video designed to score cheap points on social media isn't going to help.

how women and POC are divisive, and some take a break between hateful posts about Obama, the Democrats and the USA, post animal videos to get the acceptance of DUers.

The newer ones are taking advantage of unhappiness about the election to school us in what we did wrong, instead of just how wrong the winners were in principle, intention and deeds.

We're seeing more OPs and posts using sourcing from Newsmax, Breitbart, etc. with all the bigoted talking memes. Welfare mothers getting all the good stuff, blacks playing the race card, etc. It's quite obvious where such posts come from and why they are here now.

Of course, when called out they play innocent, use the JAQ off technique or flee to other threads to drop more of the same. I suggest the hosts of HOF just block them as they will refuse to delete after being called out in protected groups. They want their posts to stand for the thousands of people that lurk at DU but don't participate.

There is little to no help from Juries who have the same beliefs as the posters, so block 'em and let their posts sink to the bottom of the page.

JMHO.

And, wrong. Who is he to determine how women feel about the verbal and sexual harassment we experience almost every day?

He pretends to know the motive behind the video, and predicates his premise on that guesswork. University of TN must set a rather low bar for educators...

rhetoric and links. Glenn Harland Reynolds is a RW "academic", which, quite frankly, is an oxymoron in and of itself.

Consider yourself on a stringent probation in this group.

To freely be able to harass.

I have about walked from du. Administrations clear message of lack of respect for women, with comments and actions they have consistently made. In their mind, I am sure they see only the dislike for just a few loud mouth women. But, the reality truly is women and girls everywhere saying no.

Our voices on du has never been extreme and consistently reasonable. That pisses men off. How can they paint us as the bad guy, in that?

They do it with caricatures created and blatant re telling of history. Skinner created a site where almost daily a member from du goes to di and starts a nasty thread about feminists, ergo hof.

Redheads, panties, si, spider woman... Create ridiculous story telling so hof women can be ridiculed, shamed, insulted, bashed.

These are known voices on du. Our mirt. Our hosts in gd.

This is our continued discussion, in reason, example, experience the manner women are bullied to silence.

Feminist issues.

This is a clear example in the micro of a democratic progressive board.

I can and do conclude that men are so very fearful of losing their ability to bully, harass, silence women.

ass shit writes an opinion piece, based on something he pulled out of his ass. If you follow the links in the article, those articles don't say what he says they do. Good thing he wraps his shit up in a nice pretty prep-H pad for stooped morans.

Unfucking believable.
Julio you should be livid as all get out over this article, instead of using it as an attempt to bash feminism and street harassment. He states it is Hispanic and black culture to engage in this behavior. Yup, uhhuh. Put another way, he is saying that your culture is so ass backwards that you can not stop yourselves from being diarrhea sucking misogynists.

So really you have some choices here. Apologize and delete the shit ass op or by leaving it show the people of DU you have a severe lack of comprehension skills and you are fine with racist shit lairs, as long as it puts the women in their place.

to the friggin' problem. Often we call attention to that problem by using modern inventions (like video cameras) and social media, to, you know, film the issue and call attention to the ongoing problem. We used to call it investigative journalism, but now we just call it activism via social media.

She didn't hire actors, this a woman being harrassed, and she didn't entrap anyone, she is just walking - all be it, with a CAMERA out in front.

IOW, I really think that "law professor" is such a genius. No really, I do. Sheesh!

assholes come in all colors. men of color do not get a pass because of some bullshit notion about "cultural differences" that makes their catcalling okay. if anything, these men may try harder to bully a white woman because they may believe she is MORE AFRAID of them. that's intimidation, plain and simple. and no, they don't get a pass on THEIR assholish behavior because of Emmet Till. he simply doesn't get it.
