Related: About this forumWomen shouldn't report sexual harassment at the workplace.
That was the advice from someone at The Guardian late last year, anyway. And they're not alone in this opinion, as someone at CBS offered the same advice not too long ago.
And anyway, we women already know this. We already know we'll likely pay for standing up for ourselves.

(54,728 posts)Most people participating in those threads seemed to think EEOC labor law an annoyance. The country has moved far to the right on issues of diversity, and we see it everywhere.
Many seem to think the world is their singles bar / speed-dating event / locker room. And some seem intent on convincing as many women as posible that there is nothing we can do about it, and if there is - well, we shouldn't.
And the same goes for racial inequality in education. We've tried everrrrythiiing! It just cant be helped!

(2,540 posts)And our society (including both parents) has to some degree socialised women to accept this - which must change.
Yet reporting workplace abuses, inappropriate behaviour of any kind, helping/protecting the vulnerable in the office, or standing up to power is a fairly sure way to shorten one's career. Been there, done that, and the tread marks are still visible. However, one also discovers who one's friends are, or - mostly - are not. The message has come in again and again - do not stand up for the bullied, but cheer for the bullies instead, or we will target you next.
