The Gaston Gazette reported that 33-year-old Mario Chavez had been arrested early Friday after firing more than a dozen bullets into the Leather and Lace strip club.
A 24-year-old dancer who worked at the club said that Chavez had received several VIP private dances before the shooting occurred.
At some point, one of the dancers accused the suspect of touching her inappropriately, and he was asked to leave. According to police, Chavez had tried reach inside one of the dancers underwear, and had slapped her on the hip....
Thats when Chavez allegedly walked to his truck, picked up a .40-caliber Beretta handgun and began firing at the building. Police reports said that Chavez ran out of ammunition or the gun jammed, so he went back to his truck for a 9 mm Taurus handgun, and fired at least seven more shots at the nightclub. Two more shots were reportedly fired as Chavez drove away.

(9,644 posts)Not to say that a$$wipes like this do not exist, and that tragedies do not happen.
Target shooting, timed and accuracy competition shooting, plinking, hunting etc. are the most common use of firearms in this country.
People may carry for self defense, but the number of people who actually need to employ their firearm for self defense is minuscule. Probably outnumbered by shitheads like mR. mArio cHavez

(8,170 posts)Why are magazines holding more than 10 rounds are needed by private owners? Why are single shot interupted automatic cycle weapons (falsely called semi-automatics) that fire as fast as the trigger can be operated required? Even for timed competitions would not be ruined as long as everyone is limited in the same way.

(9,644 posts)A lot of rounds real fast. Some people enjoy that. I don't. But I see it done often enough. Many firearms ship with standard magazines of 15 rounds or more.
Aside from that, I am sure that you can understand how someone shooting for time would want a larger magazine. Fewer reloads may save a second or two.
Why - what do you think the primary purpose of a "large capacity magazine" is?
What is the problem with semi-autos? Too fast for you? What do you mean "falsely called"? That is the proper terminology - adopted around the world. The single most common handgun platform worldwide. You want the whole world to bend to your will?
"Single shot automatic cycle weapons"? That's a good one. Did you dream that up yourself?
I'll give you my take. A semi-auto saves you the trouble of having to chamber a round with every shot. Fer chris-sake - even an 1800's vintage revolver rotates the chamber to the next round. More rounds in less time is technology that has been engineered and developed since well before WWI. And you want people to go back to single shot pistols? Semi-auto's are popular because of the functionality.
To be sure - the precision single shot bolt fed rifle is an art form. It is capable of being supremely accurate and used to be the choice of military snipers the around world.
But for the average Joe, a semi-auto pistol for self defense is the way to go. You might not need to use it for that, but you will darned well wish you had it if you need it. I can pretty much guarantee you that no one ever found themselves in a self defense situation and said "I wish I had less ammo and a single shot pistol".

I was stripper for a bit. Grossed me right the fuck out. You get "regulars" real quick. They're the equivalent of 'nice guys' You have to make a lot of money for outfits-- then you can make real money. A lot of the women did side things like bachelor parties. There was always an undertone of violence with the audience as you became something not. quite. human.
Personally, I decided I'd rather sell drugs-- which is morally far more rehensible. People ever wonder WHY Strip clubs have those big bouncers? People can defend strip clubs all they want, but they're lying if they say violence isn't close to the surface
This was many moons ago of course. But I knows strippers to this day, and it doesn't sound as though it's changed much. You have a short shelf life too-- unless you come up with a gimmick and are really good. You start feeling old at 25.
