21 Ways Gloria Steinem Taught Us To Be Better Women

Without Gloria Steinem's passionate zest for change and equality, women would not be where we are today.

To celebrate the feminist author, activist and all-around awe-inducing goddess on her 80th birthday, we've compiled some of her best quotes and lessons from over the years.

Here are 21 things Gloria has taught us:

1. Logic trumps all:

"A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."

2. Never lose sight of your dreams:

"Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning."

Here's another article--love the title

Feminism is no longer a dirty word

The face of feminism, Gloria Steinem, turns 80 on Tuesday
Carol Costello says feminism is popular with young women, who reject stereotypes
Rush Limbaugh railed against Sandra Fluke, but his jibes cut little weight with many, she says
Young women see the value in speaking out against gender bias, she says

The "Face of Feminism" turns 80 Tuesday, and guess what? Feminism seems to be turning the corner -- again. Many young women are now embracing the term and rejecting the notion that feminists are hairy, ugly, man-hating, angry women.
Heck, even Beyonce appeared on the cover of Steinem's magazine, Ms., last year.

Gotta reinforce that 'women must shave' directive. The femininity-mandating gender norms are as popular as ever.

Just prior, I watched her give a rousing speech and I was flabbergasted by the fact that she was almost 80.

Just imagine what the average 80 year old is doing with their life and then consider that Gloria Steinem doesn't appear to be interested at all in not being a totally peerless badass.
