I haven't talked much about this, but three women I work with were diagnosed with breast cancer. Two had mastectomies- with attendant treatments. And are doing ok, for the most part.
One is dying. Right now. As I type. I'll say goodbye to her tomorrow, but it's so hard to lose a friend.
I thought I had more time you know? The cancer invaded her lymph nodes in her lungs and can no longer breathe on her own.
She was working just 2 weeks ago, part time.
This is a bad storm for me, she is a hell of a woman.

My aunt is a breast cancer survivor. I also had a good friend die from breast cancer several years ago. My reason for hating the fuckyou koman "foundation" for 3 years they gave her the all clear. One Christmas Eve she noticed a lump in her breast. Almost 8 years to the day she died.
fuck cancer and fuck nancy brinker double. I hope that asswipe dies a very painful death.

(19,964 posts)Many years ago I had an Aunt who died of cancer of the uterus. I can't think of many folks who haven't be personally effected by this horrible disease. The day a cure is found can't come fast enough.

ism, So Sorry to hear about your friends.
My grandmother had breast cancer and died as a result. She was taken away from me too soon.
Also, a woman I work with was also just diagnosed. 34 y/o. Mother of two. Found too late. Prognosis not good. We are doing Bake Sales at work to raise money to help offset the expenses.
So Sorry, ism.
So very sorry.

(5,005 posts)It's a terrible, terrible ordeal for all involved. One women I was very friendly with perished at age 32, with two young daughters. It was an absolute nightmare, but her bravery in the face of certain demise was magnificent, and inspired everyone who knew her.
Fuck cancer.
