complaints to Skinner: one thing I have noticed about our complaints.

Often, we don't get right to the point in our first question. Skinner does his thing and then our real agenda is revealed and it is NEVER answered. Done, end of discussion.

Let's get our real motivation out in the FIRST question, altho it is dicey that Skinner will answer such a bald faced question, but let's assume he does (if he answers at all, which is a big IF). If so, let's get to the nub of our question in the FIRST question...the second one often just hangs there unanswered and then he has the best of all possible words: he has "answered" our question but the real question is well, sayonara...please smarten up and get to your real agenda early one so he can't wiggle out...he may not answer but it is better than nothing, right?

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Conspiracy theories; complains about DU and Skinner

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Tue Feb 25, 2014, 05:14 PM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Skinner can deal with this if he feels it is inappropriate.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Emotional, not disruptive
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I really do not like this post. However, Skinner is not exactly a thin-skinned person and I think he can handle it better than a jury.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Stay out of the protected group alerter ...
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: "Conspiracy theories" is quite a stretch. "Complains about DU and Skinner" is off limits for GD... and this is not GD.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Could you provide a little context for this, or send me a link to something that will better explain what this is about? I think I know, or suspect I know, but don't want to jump to any conclusions. So anything you post here or send to me would be helpful.

Thanks, and best wishes.

And it is not just with posts about feminist issues. Others as well seem to get one shot. My thoughts are that if we can condense our idea in the first post, it might be better. Again, it is my impression based on reading some ATA posts on various subjects.

I wasn't clear enough in my last question, so I didn't learn what I wanted to know, but Skinner DID answer my question fully. I was just beating around the bush too much, and really, that isn't necessary, because if the question is too direct, Skinner can just answer it in a pm if he wants. That's what he did with the only other ATA question I asked, where I wondered if two posters were the same person, and since I asked by names, he answered me in a pm that they were not. The question is still hidden in ATA, even though it has been answered.

part of Skinner here. Since it involved real names, it was right that it was by pm. He DID give you an answer.

In other cases where real names are not involved, I just think it is preferable to get the full gist of the question in the first one that we pose.

I was actually referring to some posts I have seen, not necessarily yours.

There often seem to be no second bites at the apple...

In the case of actual names, yes, should be pm. But on the general principle, why not? Why the double standard?

We can speculate all we want but, only he knows why he does what he does. Sometimes I agree with how The Admin do things around here and other times ... not so much ...

I really hope they decide to modify the DU3 system in some various, different ways. I think, I am hearing him make sounds in that direction.

Until they do it and, Announce that this is what we have implemented, we will be kept in the dark.

Remember how long we heard that DU3 is coming but, did we really know what DU3 was going to be until we were here.

I try to stay philosophical about it all and, look at this as some huge internet experiment of which I am a part.

as usual, YMMV.

PS: I am going to start using Stupid as a reason to hide a post. Adjust your blacklists accordingly

to answer fair questions? Not insults or crazy stuff or trivial garbage but straight up questions? Even something along the lines of "You raise a serious question that I am giving considerable thought to, dealing with a fine line between my being umpire and "thought police" or something like that, and then a follow through later (which it looks more and more likely as he hears from more and more of us). I think he could have saved himself much agita if he had done that.
