Read this story in 1968, and have looked for it ever since. It's a riot.

(17,658 posts)I was romantically involved with a woman who lived in the Village in the early '60s. One night she was out with her cronies at the local coffee shop, and this guy she'd never seen was hitting hard on her. Her friends were in awe... "Who is this guy," she asked, and they told her it was Shel. So he finally invites her back to his place, and she thought he was cute and funny enough so she went.
Soon as they're in the door he starts to take off his shirt. He says to her, "Okay, just take off your clothes and let's get started."
"Don't you even want to know my name?"
"What do I care what your name is, until we find out if we're any good in bed together?" he asks.
She says she just laughed and left.
